"
Could you not watch with Me one hour? Watch and pray lest you enter into temptation. "
In SHOP, we count it a privilege to spend time with Him, watching with Him, worshipping and obeying the injunction of scripture in 1 Tim. 2. 2.
"I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority."
We know that there are many praying for Seahaven, for the streets, for the civic authorities for the youth, for our churches, for the emergency services, for retail traders, etc. etc. and it is a joy to lift up our corporate voices in obedience to His word. This is our "Neighbourhood watch"!
God is raising up many Houses of Prayer, or prayer centres, across our nation and we seek to be linked with them, with Brighton, Eastbourne, Hastings etc. We are serving the Lord, together with you. We believe that the Lord has called us to "stand on the walls" of our town and area, like the watchmen of old.
The Greek word for "watch" is "gregario", meaning "to be awake, to be vigilant."
There are three meanings of the word in the Bible.
1) To guard. Neh. 4:9.
2) To look for. Matt. 24:42.
3. To watch in the night. Is. 21:11.
There are three Biblical positions of the watchmen in scripture.
1) On the walls of the city. Is. 62:6.
2) Walking about in the city. SOS 3:3; 5:7.
3) On the hills or in the country. Jer.31:6.
Jesus said:
"
My house shall be a House of Prayer for all nations."
It is our desire to glorify Him by establishing a 24/7 House of Prayer in Seaford.
Currently, we are meeting every Friday, between 10:00 and 16:00 and occasional Friday evenings.
Could you dedicate
one hour or two hours a week, in addition to the praying also undertaken in your church, to praying the Lord's prayer:
"May Your Kingdom come, may Your will be done on earth, here in Seaford, as it is in heaven"?
Could you or your church provide a venue, for one day, or more a week for prayer?
Could your church take on one day a week to pray through local issues?
Are you house-bound? We would feel so privileged if you would agree to cover one or more hours a week to pray for Seaford with us.
Please contact Tric. On 01323 873451.
JANE HOLLOWAY, who is one of ten core leaders heading up Hope 08 and is the National prayer leader ofthe World Prayer Centre in Birmingham, will be with us in Seaford on18th April, from 19:30
at Crossway large hall, Clinton Place.
Please come and hear her share what God is doing, both in prayer throughout the UK and through Hope 08, and how we can participate in this God-given initiative for the church to reach our communities. We will be holding a 21/1 prayer event at Crossway. Clinton Place. from
Friday 1O:OOam- Saturday 10:00am, on 9th and 10th May.
We trust that, as last year, church groups from many churches in Seaford will come and worship and pray for Hope 08. Last year many churches took an hour "watch" and the youth covered the overnight hours.
In September, up to forty team members from "East Sussex Coast Mission" will join us in the town to evangelise with us.
The co-ordinator of this is Rev. 5tephen Talbot and we are privileged that he will be with us and lead the prayer in the final hour, 09:00 - 10:00.
Jim Goll, in his book "Kneeling on the promises" states:
"
Watching is to sleeping as fasting is to eating - a sacrifice we make on behalf of others."
Strong's Concordance defines a watchman as "
tsaphah", meaning to
"
lean forward. to peer into the distance, to observe, to espy, to wait for," also to "
watch closely."
In O.T. times, there were three watches throughout the night. From 21:00 - 24:00, from 00.00 - 03:00, from 03:00 - 06:00. In New Testament times, the Roman system of four watches was adopted.
If you are already praying in the night for the Seaford, could you let me know so that we call record who is praying when and link you with others? If you would like prayer pointers, we can supply them.
Watchmen guarded the city walls, property, people's lives and businesses. As watchmen, we can be with Him, pray for His Presence over Seaford and Seahaven, and pray against evil coming into the town.
"
Your kingdom come. Your will be done."

11:00 - 12:30
